On December 15th IPF launched the Certified Natural Perfumery Directory. This day has been declared International Natural Perfume Day! Each year we will celebrate this day worldwide! Natural Perfumery does not only involve retail products but also consumers' lifestyles and wellbeing. We perfume lovers want to make sure our perfumes are really natural; that they do not include hazardous synthetics in their composition; and no disruptive genetic or carcinogenic molecules as well. We want to make sure that perfumes are made by perfumers who are actual human beings: perfumers who we can meet, speak with and who understand our concerns towards sustainability. We also want our perfumes to be animal cruelty free! We truly believe that it is important for our health to reconnect with nature and that replanting flowers and plants worldwide will be an important action for the environment, to the survival of bees and to the possibilities of giving work to many people on earth. Mark your calendars now for December 15, 2017: International Natural Perfume Day!. “Reconnect with Nature” is a campaign of awareness about the vital importance of our connection with nature. Since antiquity, perfume has always accompanied people’s lives and has always been an important part of human history. Today, our campaign gives Natural Perfume a voice towards more awareness of the human need to reconnect with nature, as well as to recover and to protect our precious heritage. Since the dawn of time, in every region of the world, people have been using plants for therapy. They added plants to their food and their drink, they used them to make perfumes, cosmetics knowing the beneficial effects of each of them. This precious and ancestral knowledge has been transmitted from generation to generation. We can find it in cuneiform writings on Sumerian tablets around 1700BC. Prescriptions were found in the “Ebers Papyrus” dated 1552 BC, in Dioscoride’s “Materia Medica” dated 78 AC, in the ”Codex Aniciae Julianae” dated 512 AC, and later in Paracelse and Leonard Fuchs works (XVIth century). In ancient times around the world, perfume was used not only for spiritual purposes but also as therapy for a variety of illnesses. Ancient Egyptians said: “Who breathes the smells of flowers, breathes the soul of flowers.” Early Spanish settlers in North America gave Native American spiritual leaders the name "perfumeros" because of their observations of the widespread use of fragrant plants and flowers as medicinal treatments of their people. A Chinese proverb says "A perfume is always a medicine" and the "The Book of Medicine" includes hundreds of perfume compositions used in healthcare. Therapeutic qualities of perfume depends on quality of plants and the world is rich in unknown plants to use. Some indigenous inhabitants still remember. The International Perfume Foundation is making an hommage to Anne Meter Seguin who left us last week. For all collectors who knew Anne it is a big loss as she was so full of love, joy and happiness, and she will be missed. For those who don’t know Anne, let me enlighten you. Anne Meter Seguin (Anne d’Orleans) was a well known expert in perfume bottles. Fascinated by the beauty of 1930 perfume presentations and specially by René Lalique, Anne has organised several perfume auctions and an important collector’s event in Chateau de Chamerolles in 1994: Parfums d’Automne. Reenforcing the beauty and the important history of perfume, her activities significantly contributed to the protection of the World Heritage of perfume.
Therefore, the International Perfume Foundation is giving her an hommage adding her name to the great spirits who gave countless contributions to our vision. Time for the World to Care about the Earth and Act Now, before it's Too Late.
We will launch our World Heritage Program (for helping replant deserts in Africa) during the Festival de Cannes 2016. Many celebrities have already shown their support to plant the Green Wall (shown below) and we are expecting more beautiful souls to join with us. We invite organisations and NGO's to join our efforts and meet us in Cannes from May 11 - 22. Suggestions for events and activities can be considered and added to the program. Companies looking for an image of sustainability are also welcome to donate and make an impact. Only together can we succeed. A Challenge to Change the WorldWill we have to tell our children and grandchildren that what was once an important part of our culture was allowed to vanish and to be replaced by chemical substitutes? Or will we recognise that there is still time to rescue this important and beneficial heritage from extinction if we act now? This is the choice we all face. We need to replant land and to change our way of living. We need tools, there are tools, we need finance, there are funds. We need to understand the urgency of acting. We have the capacity to think, we are human. We went too far in developing companies going global without any respect for the Earth, the Water or the Environment. It was not their mistake, it was our mistake. Today our politicians may reply to citizen in creating new rules for the industry to follow. But on the other hands, they need these industries to finance their own structure for saving jobs and taxes. Therefore, we should be responsible and act, we should create new products, new businesses, and new services with the unique goal to restore our planet and to engage people to live differently. We should act as an Earth Community not just individuals as there is no more time left if we want the next generations to stay healthy, to have enough food to eat, if we want the earth to breath and our plant and animal kingdoms to survive. Today, we should share our wealth, our knowledge and our vision to recreate this world on a logical basis to restore the Earth to allow our children and their children to go on feeding the world getting back our original paradise we have just destroyed. "The World Heritage Program aimed at protecting biodiversity and saving ancient knowledge about the uses of fragrant plants in health preservation and well being. It will ensures sustainable use of natural resources and contributes to maintaining local biodiversity while giving work to many people on earth." This is the Indian theory of existence” THE Future is in Your Hands! Today, The Future is handmade. While the New Luxury Code is gathering strength with companies as an experiential marketing tool, more and more people looking for careers are giving new life to product craftsmanship. It is very interesting to see how social media is empowering craftsmanship and handmade products worldwide to answer consumer’s increasing demand for products they can trust. Waiting for the brands complying with the New Luxury Code, the future is in the hand of people and handmade products, making it important that parents understand not to push their children in the opposite direction. If you have a child with talent, help them develop those skills whether their interest is gardening or perfumer. It is not always required for them to study and graduate from a university and then look for work reserved only to a few. Having a skill will allow them to create handmade products any place in the world. Their hands and their creativity are worth more today than ever before. "Consumers are looking for original and handmade products and incredible numbers of makers, craftspeople, artisans that are rapidly growing but often invisible because a lot of it is happening out of the public eye, online or at markets." http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/television/bespoke-the-rise-of-a-handmade-revolution/story-fn9d34el-1227509801036 "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life,
and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs The future is handmade and in everybody’s hands. Everyone has a different skill waiting to be discovered. For a moment, stop doing what you do, breath, and think. You have a power inside of you - a gift - something belonging to you that can be shared with the world. I am a thinker, a writer, an entrepreneur and I found where I should be and what I should do. I love looking at companies and structures, seeing what is wrong and determining what should be changed. The same process can apply to people, since we too all have to change. You probably have beautiful skills inside of you to be re-discovered and it is time for you to go deep inside and know yourself better. Remember how you felt when you were a child, remember what you have done, what you liked to do best... Nothing is impossible! You need to go back and review this part of you and celebrate it. The Future is in your Hands and today the Future is Hand Made. Time is Now! Take your own place in this world. More and more visionaries are confirming the same point of view. Independent media are showing and following what consumers are looking for: handmade products. Consumers can ask questions and craftspeople and artisans can give immediate answers. Consumers don't have to search who made it, where it came from either from the internet or from a call to a company that will never reply. If you buy a product created by the person in front of you, they can give you all the answers you need. The New Luxury Code helps brands become more transparent and giving consumer answers to an increasing numbers of questions. The New Luxury Label will eventually answer all these questions, but today, the Future is Hand Made. More About New Luxury More About Creezy! The Agency |
